My knitting has been slow-going lately, but there is never a shortage of fun projects on my needles!

Modified Stowaway Sweater
Among other things I learned from working on my Dark Academia sweater, turns out I love colourwork sleeves. Small circumference, big payoff. When I found Wool & Pine’s Stowaway Sweater design — a drop-shoulder sweater with plain body, and colourwork on the sleeves and kangaroo pocket — I fell in love. With an abundance of DK scraps and entirely too much confidence in myself, I also decided I’d swap out the basic crewneck collar for a colourwork hood, which presented its own learning curve and challenges that will eventually earn a full write-up on my blog as soon as I finish the dang thing.

Alpaca G Street Sweater
Last year, I got introduced to Gail, a retired alpaca farmer in my community who was looking for someone to knit her a couple of sweaters with yarn from her animals. The first one, a mashup of Sari Nordlund’s Odessa sweater and a sweater from the local vintage shop where Gail volunteered, turned out great. Then we flew too close to the sun with a far more ambitious second sweater that didn’t turn out like we wanted. By the time we came back to the drawing board, Briana Luppino’s G Street Sweater, a garter stitch beauty with a mock turtleneck, had come out and was the perfect alignment for what Gail was looking for. I rarely do commissions, but this is a special occasion. How often do you get presented with luxury yarn for something like this, right?

Fishy Socks
Emma Bermudez’s unique animal-shaped socks have been on my list for a while, and I finally took the plunge and picked one: Bubbles, a goldfish design complete with scales, fins, and big bug eyes. The self-striping yarn I’m using is a riot of colour, which stands out nicely against the mini smock stitch, and the fact it’ll look like I’m being eaten alive by a couple of fish from the toes up tickles me to no end.

Miscellaneous Baby Knits
My lifelong best friend is expecting her first child this fall, and it’s my sacred duty as an honourary auntie to surround this baby with love and squishy knits. My friend is also a loyal reader of my blog, so I won’t spoil anything outright, but I will say I have some “Baby Surprises” in the works 😉
Wow, what a beautiful sock pattern. Off to go see if I can find the pattern now!!
You are really challenging yourself with the hooded sweater; at least I think so! As you progress, think I am going to need a translator. The socks sound interesting. When you build more, I would like to see the pictures. 😘
