Life has really been life-ing lately, but there’s always time to knit!

WWII Vest: Continuing my Stitch in Time vintage knitting series, I’m working on a piece from the 1940s, specifically World War II. I struck gold at the Old Strathcona Antique Mall in Edmonton with a booklet of knitting patterns for service garments — for which there was a significant movement at the time. I decided to knit the V-neck variant of the pullover vest in navy blue, and I’m eager to see how this pattern holds up. It’s technically a men’s garment, but it should still fit me nicely.

Daisy Stitch Socks: I bought a beautiful skein of one-of-a-kind yarn from Smiling Sheep’s booth at the Prairie Fibre Festival last fall. Its colourful neon sunset vibes became the basis of my next sock project with a daisy stitch motif. It’s inspired by a shawl that appears in the videogame Nancy Drew: Secret of Shadow Ranch.

Cat Doll: My husband and I are preparing to go on a big vacation this year. He suggested that I knit a doll in the image of our cat, Seabreeze, to bring with us. The project has become a chimera of doll patterns from different designers, and I’m excited to bring a little version of our beloved furbaby on the trip with us.
What a beautiful pattern that Daisy Stitch makes for the socks. What a cute idea to knit a copy of your cat. Looks cute already,
